We listened to some of the Shell Energy Australia team, because our story is built on our people. Here are their thoughts.
What keeps me at Shell Energy is the people. When I say people, I mean the collective, relentless pursuit for excellence, whether that be sustainable objectives or customer service. The attitude in this business is like none that I’ve ever experienced with other corporate companies. Shell really has a really strong culture of supporting all sorts of aspects of the business and all types of cultures and personalities and our people.
And they back that up with training, education, encouragement. And that’s what holds me here is because you feel that every day and you want to become part of that.
One of the reasons that I joined Shell Energy was actually the culture and the drive that the people have here, the passion for the customer, innovation. It’s really something that’s really meaningful and touches a lot of customers across different areas.
Shell Energy is a very inclusive place. You will feel really welcome and be able to perform your best when you are with Shell Energy. The team member is very important for me, and respect is one of the key value that I drive, making sure that we are aligned and working on the same direction. So how we are doing that, we recognise success together. So, we have team building and making sure everybody celebrates success and enjoy as a team.
Hey. Hey. Hi. I’m Bruno Lanciano. I’m the Neerabup Power Station Manager. I enjoy working for Shell Energy. We have a very close-knit team here on site. I enjoy the challenges that come with looking after the plant availability and reliability. Shell Energy purchased the power station in 2019. They are diversifying into renewables, battery, solar and wind technology, which is an exciting prospect.
At Shell Energy, we solve some of the greatest challenges that we’ve ever faced in terms of energy transition from conventional to renewable energy sources. We do it all here at Shell Energy. What keeps us going is the dedication and the motivation from the whole team and the alignment of the business goals to make this net zero emissions happen.
We’ve got very, very smart people here. We’ve got people that have been here a really long time, over ten years. There’s a lot of people that are coming towards 15 years, and what comes with that is a lot of really good knowledge. At Shell Energy, I find that I’m given the autonomy to develop what I want to develop, and I have that freedom and the ability for my managers to work with me on what I really want to achieve from my career here, not just in my current role, but in my previous three roles.
It’s been more about how I can keep motivated, keep engaged, and subsequently help customers and help progress the business in the right direction.
I’m really excited about where Shell Energy is heading. There’s so many opportunities to change the way we do work, change the way that the world uses energy, make it cleaner and greener and I think Shell is really pushing on the forefront of that. You know that you’re contributing to a bigger impact and bigger outcomes.
Shell Energy is growing at pace to meet the challenge associated with the energy transition. And in so many areas, we are making fantastic progress.
