Shell Energy is pleased to partner with Australian-owned and operated storage and renewable energy developer, Edify, on the 60MW/120MWh Riverina Energy Storage System 1 (RESS1) which is now fully operational, importing and exporting electricity at its total capacity.
The RESS1 is one of three independent but co-located battery systems located in New South Wales’ Riverina region. Shell Energy holds full operational rights to the RESS1, which is an important part of our battery portfolio, helping to build a stronger and more resilient power system.
The battery was developed to meet the requirements of the NSW Government, with which Shell Energy also has a 10-year retail contract agreement to provide the State with 1.8TWh p.a. power for sites including schools, community and medical facilities.

Pre-construction of the 200MW/400MWh Rangebank BESS has commenced in Cranbourne, bringing essential firm capacity one step closer for Victorians. The project is being jointly developed by Shell Energy and Eku Energy, with minority equity partner, Perfection Private. Once fully operational, the battery will have enough storage capacity to power 80,000 homes for an hour during peak periods. Completion of the project is expected in late 2024.
