New Shell Energy CEO and CFO appointed

Chris Holmes has been announced as Shell Energy’s new Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 October 2026.

Chris replaces Tony Keeling in the CEO role, with Tony having returned home to the United Kingdom.

Chris is an experienced executive and has held senior roles across Shell businesses and ventures in Australia, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, building and leading high-performing teams in complex and regulated markets.

Over the last decade Chris has stewarded Shell’s growth in new energies and renewables in Australia, including the acquisition of ERM Power and the subsequent development of Shell Energy Australia. As CFO, Chris played a key role in scaling and maturing the Shell Energy Australia portfolio.

Chris is passionate about building strong relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders, and fostering an inclusive, collaborative culture where people and teams can thrive.

With Chris’ appointment, we’re also pleased to welcome Shona Lunn as Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Chris in the role and providing strong financial leadership and continuity to the Finance team. Shona brings more than 20 years of finance experience and has been part of the Shell group since 2010. Her career spans Australia, the UK and Middle East, where she has built broad commercial, financial and risk management experience, most recently as Shell Energy Australia’s Head of Finance for Trading.

Throughout her career, she has partnered with businesses to drive outcomes, lead change and navigate challenging operating environments. Shona is responsible for Shell Energy’s finance function across the integrated business providing objective insight on performance, supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring a strong framework of risk management, governance and financial control.
