15-year offtake agreement to support $400m Koorangie Energy Storage System

Shell Energy is pleased to support the Koorangie Energy Storage System (KESS) in Victoria with a 15-year offtake agreement for the full 185MW / 370MWh.

Australian renewable energy company Edify Energy has announced a partnership with specialist infrastructure investor Sosteneo SGR Spa and the successful completion of project financing to build and operate the KESS, which is capable of powering 350,000 homes for two hours.

The KESS will be built in the Murray River region, near the renewable energy rich area of Kerang, Victoria, and will help secure the future stability of renewable energy in the Murray River Renewable Energy Zone.

The energy storage system will form an important part of Shell Energy’s growing battery portfolio, helping us support a more resilient power system in Victoria and optimise supply and costs for our customers in a transitioning energy market.
