With 15 years of experience in the energy industry, Pareen Naicker understands the challenges Western Australian businesses face in today’s evolving energy landscape. As Shell Energy’s new Gas and Electricity Account Manager in Western Australia, she’s focused on helping large business customers navigate the market with tailored contracting solutions that deliver long-term value.
My primary focus is supporting customers and making sure they’re getting the most value from their energy relationship with Shell Energy. No two days are the same as an Account Manager, but a typical day for me would involve speaking to customers, helping both our broker partners and customers to understand energy market conditions and the opportunities available to them. I also take time to understand any issues they may be experiencing and how I can help resolve them.
I would say the biggest part of my role is relationship management, both externally and internally amongst the different Shell Energy departments. I want to understand what matters to our customers and then work with our Sales, Operations and Trading teams – as well as our brokers and energy advisors – to make that happen.
One of the things that has stood out quite significantly is the collaborative culture across the business. Everyone has been extremely supportive, approachable and willing to share their knowledge and experience.
I’m also really impressed with the depth of experience within the organisation itself and the genuine focus that people have towards our customers. The customer is always the key focus and we’re always asking, what are we doing to help them. There is a strong commitment to delivering value and it’s clear the people that I work with at Shell Energy are passionate about customer service.
Western Australia has a very close-knit business community. I’ve found that customers particularly value responsiveness, consistency and a personal approach.
They want to speak to someone local and they like knowing there’s someone who understands how the local market operates.
For me, delivering exceptional service starts with understanding the customers’ needs and being proactive rather than reactive. That means being accessible, responding quickly, communicating openly and following through on commitments. Customers want to know they have someone they can rely on, especially when they have questions or are experiencing challenges, so it’s important I’m that person they can approach to find resolutions.
Helping customers understand the market, identifying what opportunities there are, solving problems, and making sure they have a seamless experience is important to me. If our customer sees me as a trusted source of knowledge, rather than just an energy retailer, then I know I’m delivering value.
Shell Energy combines a strong market expertise with a genuine commitment to customer partnerships. We understand that every customer is different and we work closely with both our intermediaries and customers to deliver solutions that are tailored to their unique needs.
We aim to go beyond simply retailing gas to businesses. We’re focused on helping customers navigate an evolving energy landscape while delivering reliable, local customer service, accurate billing and flexible contracting options. After 15 years in the industry, what continues to motivate me is helping customers navigate their energy needs over time and building a long-term relationship to create real value.
While Shell Energy might be new in the WA market, we’re not new to Australia. We’ve been consistently delivering exceptional energy value to our large business electricity customers and have been rated number one for customer satisfaction^ by these same customers 15 years in a row.
So, if I could say one thing about our gas offering in WA, it would be that we’re here now, please get in touch.
Great value, flexible gas contracts, tailored to the needs of large businesses across Australia and delivered by a dedicated, local team.
